Parkmerced was built in the 1940s to provide housing for military families after World War II; it is currently a 3,221-unit rent-controlled apartment community with a mix of low-rise garden apartments and mid-rise towers. 300 Arballo’s 89 apartments are part of the first wave of new development that will ultimately add more than 5,000 new residences over a period of 20 to 30 years.
