In February I had the opportunity to meet with Congressional staff members on Capitol Hill with three other members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) Advisory Group. Our mission was to deliver two petitions signed by over a thousand AIA members across the country stating their concerns about climate change, the Paris Climate Agreement, the incoming leadership at the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the importance of these two departments’ programs and resources to our profession and our clients. Our goal was to make the business case for the critical tools and resources that DOE and EPA provide in anticipation of budget cuts and executive orders that could impact their continued funding.
